Patent numbers: 4540584 (original Alka-Line Coral Calcium) / 4463031 (Alka-Line Coral Calcium Gold)
We have the only coral calcium on the market that goes through a patented water-based purifying process to remove salt and harmful heavy metals. This patented process includes the only Japanese government approved collection method that carefully vacuums the coral semi-fossils from the ocean floor without harming the ecosystem. Our coral calcium is also the only coral calcium approved for human consumption by the Japanese government. Above water, fossilized coral calcium is not approved for human consumption. Fossilized coral calcium only contains calcium carbonate and other carbonate minerals. Since all life is carbon based, all fossils are basically ordinary carbonates. Only marine grade coral calcium can contain ionic minerals. This is due to the algae that lives in the coral and that the coral feeds from. Fossilized coral from above the water no longer contains these ionic minerals since the algae requires the moist ocean environment to grow.

The 'Coral Grains' used by Marine-Bio Co., Ltd.

The "Coral Grains" which has been used by Marine Bio. Co., Ltd., is a weathered remains of fragments of debris of coral reef marine organism such as living coral. These particles are originally formed in coral reef area weathered by tide and wave motions and/or by interaction with seawater. They accumulated at the sea bottom near the coral reef area where the current is gentle.

The harvest of "Coral Grain" does not give damages on the living coral, but only collect naturally formed coral grains. As metaphorically speaking with tree and leaves, we do not cut down the tree nor living leaves, but only gather the fallen leaves.
It is important to say that, as a regal subject, harvest of the grains is controlled under the Okinawa Prefecture Government regulation. It is considered that controlled harvest with a fully supervised environmental conservation, does not give harms to the natural environment nor cause the exhaustion of reef building coral grains.

According to a study by oceanographers, the annual production rate of the "coral grain" is estimated to be approximately 3kg/m squared in coral reef sea around the Ryukyu Islands. Since the coral reef building sea area in Okinawa Prefecture is approximately 800k m squared, it is calculated that approximately 2.4 million tons of "coral grain" is naturally roduced annually. We can safely claim that at least 1.2 million tons of the "semi-fossilized (weathered) reef building coral grain" is naturally produced annually. Therefore, harvesting 100 tons monthly (1,200 tons annually) is equivalent to 0.01% of the "coral grains" annual production, and we can say that there is negligible impact on the ecological system of reef building coral and environment, at the present rate.

That's right, I said that marine grade coral calcium is safer to the environment than land mining of coral calcium rocks. It is also much more effective, but I will address effectiveness after I address safety. As with any land-based mining project many environmental dangers are present. Just do a search on the internet for "mining pollution" and you will see the dangers. You have probably seen the large piles of fossilized coral rocks on other web sites by now. What they did not show you was the other pile of waste rocks that was ten times, or larger, the size. The waste rocks from any type of land mining contains sulphides that produce large amounts of sulphuric acid when it rains along with several heavy poisonous metals. This acid and heavy metal mixture will move down streams into lakes, rivers, and to the ocean and coral reefs etc.. Sulphuric acid has a pH range from around 0 to 2. All living things die at a pH of 3 and some marine life dies much earlier. Crabs, for instance, can die at a pH of 6 or lower as well as many other forms of marine life. Most plants thrive on alkaline soil also. So, sulphuric acid has a pH of 0 - 2. Crabs die at 6 and everything dies at 3. You do the math and determine the devastating effects. Whole animal species have been wiped out from land based mining and the acids produced. With coral rocks being mined so close to the shore I am sure many more species will soon disappear unless we all unite and stop supporting land based fossilized coral calcium by NOT BUYING CRUSHED CORAL FOSSIL ROCKS. Besides the pH factor, the landscape is forever changed. The vegetation has been ripped from the surface and the animals that feed on it can no longer survive due to a lack of food. What was once the beautiful landscape of Japan will soon become deep pits of waste material. Would you like giant holes in your backyard? No? Then let's not create giant holes in the homeland of our fellow man in Japan. Why cause all this destruction when a safer and life giving process of collecting coral calcium exists?

Marine grade coral calcium is much more friendly to the ecosystem as well as a superior product. First of all, many mining companies are turing to the ocean to collect a large variety of minerals. Why? Once again it is all about the dangers of acid run off. The ocean is an alkaline environment and acids are rarely produced unless by volcanic eruptions. Since the ocean floor is covered by alkaline water the sulphides will not be rained on and will not turn into damaging acids. What about the damage done to the live coral while collecting the granules from the ocean floor? Have you ever been scuba diving in areas with large amounts of coral? If so, then you probably noticed that as you move out into deeper waters you will find several areas that are huge trenches of just sand and little to no living coral. It's in these trenches that the coral grains are collected. Not only is this safe for the living coral, but it even helps to promote the growth of the living coral. In a sense, it's kind of like pruning a tree to promote new healthy growth, except we are not clipping the live coral, but only helping by removing some sediment from around the huge structure allowing for more room to grow. There has already been enough coral calcium collected for every single person in the US to have a life-time supply, so collection is currently minimal. Ok, I have decided that marine grade coral is safer for the ecosystem, but will it improve my health more than the fossilized coral calcium rocks?

Yes, marine grade coral will give you much greater results. Any person who is mineral deficient will see some benefit from either the fossilized or marine grade, but far superior results will be viewed using our marine grade coral calcium products. To help you understand why lets first look at how a fossil of any kind is formed. When an animal dies the flesh is rotted away by bacteria and other microorganisms. The skeletal structure is all that is usually remaining. This skeleton must then be covered by earth. As the skeleton lays beneath the earth minerals from the soil will slowing diffuse into the structure replacing the original content until all that it remaining is a rock in the shape of the original structure. That's right! If you have been buying fossilized above water coral calcium then you have been suckered into buying ground up rocks. You could lick your pavement in your driveway and it would be just as effective. All life on earth is carbon based and the one thing that will remain in the fossil from the original animal, coral in this case, will be CaCO3 (calcium carbonate.) Once again, the same stuff your driveway is made out of. There will be no ionic minerals, no free electrons to donate for antioxidant potential, just chalk and trace carbonate minerals. Since the minerals are surrounded by sulphides and rained on often creating acids the pH is also dramatically reduced. Every wonder why the above water fossilized coral calcium is so cheap in cost? It's cheap in quality! It's basically the same as any oyster shell or limestone calcium on the market.

Marine grade coral calcium contains not only the CaCO3 from the coral skeleton, but also contains many ionic minerals that are a natural chelate due to the zooxanthellae that grows on the coral. Since the coral lives in warm slow moving waters there is not much of a supply of food passing by. The coral has adapted to this condition by allowing this micro-algae to grow within the skeletal tissue and then it feeds on this algae for nutrients. Since this marine grade coral is collected from an alkaline environment it has a much higher pH range as you can see on our calcium and coral calcium comparison chart. The minerals within the coral also contain many electrons that can be donated to your body to fight free radical damage. There are more electrons present in the sachet form since many electrons are lost when the coral calcium is ground into a powder for capsules, but marine grade coral calcium capsules are still more effective than fossilized coral calcium capsules. The pH is also dramatically reduced the finer the coral powder is ground. If you want the highest grade and most environment friendly coral calcium then purchase the Original Patented Coral Calcium sachets or capsules on this site.
